Malathion

Common name: Malathion

Chemical name: O,O-dimethyl phosphorothioate of diethylmercaptosuccinate

Solubility: 145 ppm in water; soluble in most organic solvents.

Usage: Insecticide. Organophosphate insecticides are anticholinesterase chemicals, i.e., damage or destroy cholinesterase, the enzyme required for nerve function in the animal body.
