Production of inhibitory molecules by N. europaea
Cell extracts of N. europaea produce zones of clearing are produced in a confluent lawn of Agrobacterium tumifaciens AHL reporter strain.Samples #1 and #3 were extracted from activrly growing cells, while Samples #2 and #4 were extracted from staionary phase cells. Extracts were spotted in volumes of 1 uL (Samples #1 and #4) and 8 uL (Samples #2 and #3). The blue pigment indicates detection of AHL with extracts of stationary phase cells giving a greater signal.
