Proteomic Analysis of Stress Response

We are currently using two-dimensional electrophoresis (2-DE) to analyze chanaes in the proteome of N. europaea that occur in response to stress. An overview of the 2-DE analysis is shown below.

Stresses we are currently investigating are heat-shock and starvation. Comaprison of 2-DE gels from stressed cells to those of non-stressed cells (base state) allow identification of proteins that change in abundance in response to stress.

Stress-regulated proteins are then identifed by mass spectrometery, and from these identies functions affected by stress may be inferred.
